I think the best way would be to have an option in the same way as the new
"trigger" to do the opposite, let me explain you... you could assign an
object with an "untrigger" option that makes all the objects that collide
against it to automatically deactivate. That way you could be flexible in
the way you use this object, for example if you just want to use it to
deactivate objects outside the camera you could create a box that it´s a
little bit bigger than your viewport and that way you will get your objects
deactivated. Also you could use it for many other things and not just for
performance.
