also how about a link to the new blender artists section once it is up.
like a news article about the new addition of a websites link to artists
websites.  (not trying to be all egocentric with my work, but soon it will
be a new arrival and a pretty big deal IMO)

i am in agreement with altering the front page,  defiantly keep a link to
the download that is easy to find, but i like the idea of a section with
recent updates and links to important areas.  some way for users to know
what has changed since last time they ame there really.
