Indeed. I lost work about 30 minutes ago by accidentally pressing Ctrl X
when I meant Ctrl C. Bloody annoying, it would be great if that sort of
thing was backed up as well.

A list of points that I would like to see improved in this area:
* Less bizarre wording for File->New

Alexander is totally right here, there are plenty of apps that don't support
multiple documents, and in them, File->New resetting everything is common
knowledge, and saying something overwrought involving sessions and
restarting and undo could be even more confusing than what people are used
to, just giving a little dialogue menu thingy asking to save unsaved changes
or not. For now at least, I might just put a more sane message in there than
'erase all'.

* More usable handling of temp files

The Recover Last Session is ok (too bad if you've got linked data though!),
but only works when you've quit. If Blender crashes, as it has for me a fair
bit recently, you're own your own, and have to go through the chore of
finding the temp directory, turning on sort by date (and perhaps the
'extended' file info to be sure) and opening the most recent temp file.

It would be much better if Recover Last Session provided a menu with the
quit.blend 'Blender quit backup' or something at the top, and then under a
separator, a list of the most recent temp files, sorted by date. Bonus
points for actually making the filenames meaningful, like prepending the
actual filename that's being backed up before the process id, which would
make life a lot easier when working with simultaneous Blender sessions.

* Not breaking relative-path-linked data in temp files

What would be really good to make temp files bulletproof, is if it saves in
the temp file the location of where the original file was (maybe this info
is already in the .blend?) and when opening temp or doing recover last, it
actually copies that file to the original location before opening. This
would mean than when you open it up, all your linked data will be intact and
you can just save it down again in that same folder.

cheers

Matt
