Hello,

It seems to me LyX could be of great use to write Docbook easily,
without learning all the details of the syntax.
LyX is a document processor, originally intended to produce LaTeX, but
has been adapted to create docbook documents too.

You can find all informations about LyX + Docbook at
http://bgu.chez.tiscali.fr/
with documentation to be found at
http://bgu.chez.tiscali.fr/doc/db4lyx/

Of course you can check http://www.lyx.org/ to see how does it look like.

Just a hint.
