At this point I have no idea what issue you are taking with. I am also
not sure what "direct use of the LUT" means, nor where I suggested it
was "not justified."

My point was directed at a clear question and the answer was equally
clear - that OCIO (and any system built upon it) can easily take
custom 1D and 3D LUTs as well as matrices.

My point was that A) custom LUTs can be easily added into an OCIO
system and B) that if this seems too complex, the individual probably
isn't strong enough on color management topics to be dabbling.

These two points are in no way trying to dismiss the value of a node
that applies any OCIO transform upon the data. That node is indeed
very important.
