My another proposal regarding the support is as follows:

A separate server application, that would do all the configurations thgings
- speed, dynamics, neutral zone, merging two devices (i. e. two 2D mice)
into a single virtual 6dof device, etc.

It would be completely independent from Blender, and would run on the three
basic platforms, of course.

The app would be a 6dof server, setting/updating some 6dof data in Blender
like scene position/rotation.

This approach, with an independent app, would have these two advantages:

1. No the 6dof device specific stuff like dynamics, neutral zone, merging of
devices in Blender 6DOF API, no the speed -> absolute dof translation in
Blender 6dof API. Just a simple protocol for sending/receiving absolute 6dof
from the discussed server.

2. The configuration of 6dof devices would be system-wide, that is, the
server could serve any other 3d app that would support it.

3. The 6dov input HID support could go to the server, being system-wide,
too.

What do you think? Do you have other proposals regarding quality 6dof
support in Blender?
