That's a very old and known thing... and nvidia-settings is - to my
knowledge - even included with the NVidia driver :)
There's also a corresponding XF86Config option, called Option "NoFlip",
which indeed has to be turned "On" for Blender to run smoothly.
It isn't in any FAQ?
