Noticed that the headers include this:

  * The Original Code is Copyright (C) 2010 Blender Foundation.
  * All rights reserved.

This implies that the original authors have assigned their copyright to
the blender foundation (as opposed to releasing under a GPL2+ compatible
license but keeping their own copyright)
