as a suggestion, if the editing is that 'heavy' the best things would be
to prepare a propoal in a page like (say)
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Meta:Sandbox/Manual/Materials/Halos
and let others give a look, no need to rush no?

The same has just heppened with Lighting chapter after all, and it has given some good collaborative results :)
