Hello folks,

want to hear you opinion on this topic:

In Chapter 16 “Rigging a Hand and a Foot” by Lybomir Kovachev the definition respectively the usage of "IK Solver" is simply wrong. As this to be fundamental thing it should be corrected as soon as possible, not to confuse any armature newbies any more. Unfortunately this fault is repeated many times in the hole article (and Pics) so it would be some work to fix it.

What there is named IK Solver is in fact the IK Solver TARGET!
The real IK Solver is the Bone with the IK Solver Constraint. That is like mixing Parent with Child.
It leds to much confusion in forum questions.

Let me say it clearly:
A Bone has an IK Solver Constraint (abbreviated: IK Solver) and it points on a Target.
Parable:
A ranger (Bone) has a rifle (Ik Solver Constraint) and aims at a zebra (Target), of course for the best.
Nobody would really name the zebra a "rifle". This would cause serious trouble: Ranger aims at Rifle?! Makes no sense.

Correcting this would make it consistent with the Blender quick tips, too.

My suggestion is to only use the terms “IK-Solver Constraint” and “IK-Solver Target”, to make it unequivocal.

Am I right?

See ya
