i had planned to assist outside of the BSOD, and in my own time.

sure of course. i've taught an introduction to game development using Blender 
at several universities, and the pinball-like tute has proven to be a good
introduction to both the tools and game design concepts. 

out of interest, what is the policy regarding the hosting of files
related to the tutorial? by this i mean sound-files, python code,
*.blends. 

i'll get on to this and the other components of the documentation i mentioned.
