that sounds like a rather good idea!

I had a go just now at writing a script that could do such a thing. Current 
state of things can be found on http://www.kleppmann.de/blender ... well, 
to my disappointment I discovered that the Blender Python API doesn't 
include any functions to resize windows or even to change screen (at least 
they aren't documented).

The script works under Linux with Blender 2.3. It's nothing great yet, but 
an experiment to see if it's worth going any further. Hope for your 
comments.
