Good to hear that! It will definitely play an important role for all of us.

Do you have some sample Collada files with their Blender counterparts? 
You could maybe put them on the wiki, for reference.

Did you get in touch with the people at Willow Garage working on using 
Collada in RViz (and possibly Gazebo as well) [1]? They may have done 
something in this direction as well. At least, they will be interested 
in these progresses.
