[Bf-viewport] Updates for the week of May 2nd - May 9th

Hello devs,

Any interesting viewport updates for the week of May 2nd to May 9th? Any
plans for the upcoming week? I will be aggregating information on the
Viewport Reports wiki page[1].

There was nothing reported last week, so hopefully this week is a bit more
interesting.

Mike, any progress on the ideas/docs/design work you mentioned in the April
11th - April 18th report thread?
