Cool! That's great news.
After reading more about LUTs I finally understood that they can be used
both for colorimetrically correct conversions and also for creative or
technical pre-processing of the footage (I'm more used to ICC workflows
where profiles are only used to preserve color information and appearance).
Probably those shots were exposed deliberatedly darker to keep
information in highlights (as Troy suggested) with the application of a
corrective LUT in mind.
So, if that's so, the way to go (at least avoiding the need of modifying
Blender) would be sGamut > Corrective LUT > sRGB instead of just jumping
from sGamut to sRGB chromaticity.
What does the DP says about the look of these images?
