[Bf-taskforce25] Proposal for number buttons.

Hi Ted,

You've hit the nail right on a dilemma we have regarding our UI widgets.

I agree with what's stated in your email, but the issue is this:

Putting text outside number buttons solves some issues, and works
quite wonderfully in exactly the case you've illustrated: A single
column. For multiple columns it starts to become unclear what widget
each label refers to.
For 2.5 we were at some point discussing moving to a single column
layout, and this would have made many things in the UI easier to read,
and made it much easier to do layouts, too.

The reason we went away from that idea was because the user is then
required to scroll up or down a lot more to see all settings, and you
can only see half as many items at a glance.

Additionally, text outside makes the widgets, and also hit targets,
smaller. For sliders you also get less precision.

Now, with that said, your middle option looks like a good compromise.
Can't think of any situation where this wouldn't work, so +1 on that
one.

Cheers,

-William
