Don't worry, take your time to learn things, feel free to ask here, etc.
We've all gone through this, not that long ago : ).  About returns, it's
ok to return a dict when it fits better than other types.  And about
actions, I haven't seen enough of it, but a quick search here shows it
related to armature, pose, ipos, constraints, nla stuff, so you're
probably safe.
