[Bf-funboard] Losing painted textures.

I'm very very very very angry. I use Blender since 2006 and I STILL
forget to save painted textures. There's no warning, no autosave, no
nothing. Even though I press ctrl+W every other second wihtout even
thinking, I have autosave to 1 minute and a autosave file is created
when closing Blender, there's still no way of recovering hours of
painting work. It's VERY frustrating. Please, something has to be
done!!
