This can be great for people using tablets (and a lot of artists do).
The thing I found cumbersome with most implementations is the speed
decrease that can happen when waiting for menus to "pop" up or the
software to "do someting".

A pie-like menu with maybe a bigger indicator of where the user
currently is navigating around (I still like OS X' volume/sound pop-up!)
could be great.

How about having a safe-like-knob menu and using the scrollwheel to
navigate it (turn it left/right)? For example:

- pop up pie-like menu, use gestures to select the correct "functional
area", or direction
- when that is selected, another circle pops up _around_ the pie menu,
the top-most piece being the selecet option (maybe also being the most
used one)
- scrollwheel runs trough the menu entries, down for right-scrolling up
for left-scrolling

Most people have a scrollwheel mouse these days and we could make some
use of it. And thinking about it, it could be used in normal blender
menus as well. Scroll-click is definately faster than moving the mouse
around. :o)

kind regards,
Samo
