[Bf-education] Bf-education Digest, Vol 90, Issue 12 Reply to Jamie

Hi Jamie,
I have to be careful what I say because when you take the Certiport test you have to swear not to tell anyone the info on the test. That being said, it's both bizarre and easy. Remember, it is a proficiency test. Those wanting an expert test can take the (Tadadada) ACE or Adobe Expert test, which is far more complicated.) Basically they compose these test in two parts, half simulation questions (where you are in an environment that looks exactly like photoshop and when you do what it asks, your answer is automatically recorded.) The other half are multiple choice questions. Some are simple skill related, others are concerning issues you would find in the real world of graphics dealing with client issues. Some questions are bizarre and strange and I wonder how Adobe ever accepted them. My problem with making a test like this is how to make a simulation test. The multiple choice type test I think could be done by alot of people but making a simulation test would require specific skills that I dont have. Bye Caldwell

I'm happy to share some of the assessment tasks I've done, and I'll give
you a quick overview now.

The first is a written task looking at what careers use 3d animation &
visualisation skills, what those employers are looking for, and finding
what education pathways exist. The main aim of this is to make the student
see the benefit of this course as a starting point into 3D animation; to
make aware of where it can be used; and what they need to do to get there.

The second project is the collection of the animation made while completing
aspects of the course. This does include a few open ended animation where
they will design an object that is used, create a walking man animation,
and finished with a team project of a short film.

I have an old exam from when we used 3DS Max which I'll rewrite as the
practical part of the exam. Just quickly, it was a simple clock animation
to be complete within a 1 & 1/2 hour time frame.

This is the second year I have been able to use Blender instead of 3DS Max,
and as a result I have spend the last 6 months redrafting the course for
more material including unit descriptions, course outline, activity sheets,
task summaries, presentation/demonstration checklists which I was planning
to use for my BFCT.

Cheers,
Jamie Le Rossignol

Yes. We all need to live.
I would start up the project as an open source project. Write the
basic game so that it works or in other words people can play it. Then
it will attract more people and the project will grow. Read the
Cathedral and Bazaar!

I used Panda3d for my MMORPG. It is great. Maybe the Blender Game
Engine is better now. I don't know. I would love to hear a compare
and contrast of the two.

I live in Germany and my wife is German. I am from the USA.

What Email program sucks that badly? Must be MS based??
I just use Gmail.
