[Bf-docboard] blender video lectures??

Hi all!

This is an idea I have since I started working on Blender. I just want to make this suggestion, in case you think it can be useful.

I think the most powerful documentation source are video lessons. In my opinion they accelerate a lot the pace at which beginners (and more advanced users) learn the use of an application, in this case Blender.

My suggestion is to open a project, maybe as a part of this documentation project, or maybe as a separate project, focused on the production of DVD lessons for Blender. I've seen some of the Gnomon Workshop DVDs for Maya, and it really makes a difference!

I think a complete set of video lessons (covering all the aspects of blender) together with a good reference text (i. e. the current vol II Blender reference) would make a luxurious learning kit.

It could be done in separate DVDs, or downloadable DivX files, etc. They could be divided in subjects: modeling, materials, rendering, animation, effects, plugins, software updates documentation, etc. I think the Gnomon Workshop DVDs are a good reference to look at.

If you think this is a good idea, and it's feasible, I could help out. I studied filmmaking in a film school, in case some advice were needed. I'm not an English-speaker, but maybe I could help in preparing the Spanish translations of the lectures.

Well, just an idea. Best,

Pep Ribal.
