[Bf-committers] Proposal on Default Settings

I really think its a bad idea to disable the 3d manipulator. People who
don't like it can disable it if they want, but it should be on, imho, as
Blender is a modelling application first and foremost.
All other 3d applications show it by default so I'm not sure why Blender
should be any different. We really don't want to be different just for
the sake of it and there are certain conventions that we should adhere too.
New users and those migrating from other 3d packages will expect it to
be there also.
Its the same with trackball rotation. Most 3d applications, afaik, use
turntable.
The defaults discussion really needs more user input on a public forum
to get a proper consensus. The first I had heard about the new defaults
proposal was today and many uses don't religiously hang out on IRC or
follow every step that Blender makes on Twitter.
