Bug report: http://projects.blender.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=29675&group_id=9&atid=498
Patch:
http://projects.blender.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=29676&group_id=9&atid=127

It should be noted that Blender generates negative alpha values using
the internal renderer according to Guillermo's demonstration file as a
result of antialiasing procedures, so a Colorramp node was added to
clamp the rendering alpha output.

With respect,
TJS
