I'm not sure if this is relevant for this project,
but luxrender developers started a preparation of an accelerated raytracing library which
should be reusable in other projects:
This library will have backend for OpenCL and Cuda.
Main idea behind it is that the raytracing computation happens on OpenCL/Cuda devices,
while the rest of the renderer is separated and not limited by the memory and code length restrictions of gpgpus.
I just thought it might be usefull in future of the new shading system.
