Yep, quite a battle until you find out that FFMPEG is great but hard to learn.
I will give you my settings, if I can just find them!
Trying to remember the settings, one thing was getting the right mic
and the other was having the codecs and also having the ffmpeg that
was compiled with the right codecs (ubuntu takes out a lot because
they have copyright problems like mp3 etc)
I can't seem to find it but I found a link that I used a long time ago.
