Nope, it's simulated through a Linux iptables userspace plug-in
that I wrote, to get repeatable results. libipq rocks. I don't
know enough of *real* network degradation characteristics to
say that it's like e.g. a wireless network. :/

Yeah ... I guess in practice you'd tear your hair and scream if the
network was that bad. On the other hand, 20% of a gigabit link still
leaves 800 Mbps, and it'd be annoying if Verse was useless over such
a link.
