Hi.

As Brecht wrote, things seem rather... B0rken. I don't get it, I'm sure
I tried connecting with Purple (and lots of other clients) more or less
all day long yesterday, but now it doesn't work.

A tell-tale sign that something is off is the server printing something
like this when I try to connect:

Connecting 'ÅÚú¬
                :$â¹íå1sñ'

That should be the client's name there, the string from the
verse_send_connect() function call. Looks very much like an encryption
issue... I'll dig around a bit.
