Eskil,

is it legal to set blocks of a different type than the one the layer
was created with? There is no code in the server preventing it, but
I would assume (and hope) that it is not an intended use.

Although the frequency is set once for the layer, since the different
blocks have different lengths due to size constraints, they represent
different durations at playback-time. It's therefore kind of weird
to be able to insert a "long" 8-bit block in the middle of a 32-bit
layer.
