Hi,
I doubt that Matt chould accept your proposal. He said, that markers 
will be only for marking some spot at timeline, nothing more. Don't 
forget, that this window is primary used for sound! :-) You can make 
trigger in python and there is no need to waste C code with this stuff :-)

Finding some marker sounds as interesting proposal and it shouldn't be 
hard to implement ;-)
