Summary: FTF label redraw bug

Initial Comment:
There seems to be a problem with the way UI labels are
drawn with the new freetype system.

>From what I can tell, whenever you move the mouse over
a button, it redraws it. This occurs too in drawing
labels, except it doesn't clear the pixels from
underneath, it just draws the new pixels straight over
the top. With the old non-AA fonts, this was not an
issue because the pixels were either 100% black or
nothing at all, but now that the fonts are anti-aliased
(and there is a variety of different
transparencies/shades of gray in the drawn characters'
pixels), it causes a problem where the gray pixels
build up on top of each other, every time the mouse is
moved over the label. This makes the text distorted and
near unreadable.

An illustration of this bug is attached.

The problem only appears in label because when the
mouse moves over a standard button, the whole button is
redrawn, and the text is anti-aliased against a
background of the colour of the button. However with
labels, only the text is drawn, but not cleared underneath.
