Hi Stani,
Thanks for working on new SPE, can't wait for stable ;-) This is my exp 
with alpha:
Debian
python 2.3.3
wxPython 2.5.1.5

removed sm
install gives me "WARNING: the location where spe is installed could not 
be retrieved."
chedcked sm/wxp/smdi.py => works

$ python SPE.py --debug

Starting Spe v0.5.0.a ...

If spe fails to start:
        - type "python SPE_.py --debug" at the command prompt
        - send the error report to s_t_a_n_i at yahoo.com
