Hey Tom and fellows,

By summer's end, graphics tablets were working pretty darn well on Mac
and Windows. Linux needed some love, which it finally got around
Christmas. The latest tablet stuff lives in a separate branch
(merwin-tablet-2), and is nearing merge readiness.

A few people have come forward to help with SpaceNav support. There
was a sudden surge of interest in early January (after months of
silence). I had planned to do tablet and 3D mouse as two separate
patches -- is that recommended?
