Hi,

Joe can correct me if I'm wrong, but this should be a simple
one-liner, like:

svn export -r {August 20, 2007} \
https://svn.blender.org/svnroot/bf-blender/branches/soc-2007-NAME_OF_BRANCH

The only thing that might not work is the date specifier, but
google can help you fix that. Also check 'svn help export'.
You then need to tar/gzip the output.
