Well, this week I've been steadily (if still a little slowly) 
progressing in figuring out the proper way to average together density 
functions.  This has been a very difficult thing to figure out, but I 
think I finally figured out pixar's method, it helped a lot once I 
figured out what their particular definition of slope must be (change in 
opacity over 1 unit of depth).

Next week I leave for siggraph, so I probably won't get any work done. :)
