perhaps related to that, i just got to know about Apple's xgrid and the
Python tools for it, http://hammonds.scu.edu/~classes/pyxg.html . the
developer just joined the ipython project, for which i'm working now
within the google/soc initiative. don't know if xseed is using xgrid,
but if so, there seems to be nice controls to the jobs from python
there too (well via the pyobjc bridge all macos things are basically
accessible from python).

surely there may be overlap with xgrid and drqueue, but perhaps they
can work together too? i don't know that area really yet. at least you
can perhaps see the pyxg API for ideas about nice pythonic controls to
parallel processing..

it's related to a research project they have on the topic,
http://hammonds.scu.edu/~classes/braid.html which is titled 'Enabling
Interactive Parallel Computations in Python'. although i guess
interactive use of the farm is not that relevant for us, i.e. we use
our workstations for previewing with opengl, and use the renderfarm
when the scenes are set. unlike those scientists who explore massive
datasets and complex simulations interactively having a farm under the
python interpreter session.. well perhaps i could try some strange
procedural modelling & animation on the xseed like that, if possible ;)

just for your info,
