i think that a quick intro and guide should perhaps be on the first page.

new users could be presented with a 1,2,3 step program

1) download

2) tutorials

3) help and showing off of work.

4) links and other resources

sounds like a plan to me

Perhaps a quick blender intro and, info about the tutorials at the site, etc.
It would also talk about where to look for help when you need it, like elYsiun.
  Any suggestions?

Ack! I must have missed that (My spam filter has been playing up a bit
last week). What would you like to put on the informational version of
the quickstart page?

Ok, here's what's going on... I've been extremely busy this week and I
will be for awhile, but anyway, I've started on the texturing tut.

Bart, you never responded to my question about wether I should turn
quickstart into an informational page or not... did you get the email?
