Yes, this is a good idea, except it won't work so well with number  
fields with longer names. The name will be cut off if the colon is in  
the middle. Of course you can then just ensure the colon is not in the  
middle, but rather 2/3rds to the right, or some such rule ;)

In any event, I'm all for trying these things out in practice.
