Hi,

It's important to have scripts working fine before the 2.40 release.
There should be another alpha release before the official Blender 2.40,
so I guess we have at least a month, probably more. About updates in the
API, we're in a special 'season' right now. The freeze happens naturally
following Blender's cvs feature freeze.

Blender has evolved a lot since 2.37a, with important changes in
armatures and meshes, for example, which require changes in BPython. So
the team is taking the chance to update the API, too, even if it means
breaking compatibility in some places. We plan to remove
inconsistencies, update the internals to use newer Python/C features,
etc. This will take a while, require more discussion, so right now
things are not stable.

Once that is done and since it'll probably require updates in many
scripts, the plan is to define a better structure to organize scripts,
help them become well documented, have good interfaces and error msgs
and work in all supported platforms. We don't want to control anything,
of course, we just need to fight chaos here, so that scripts are better
integrated with Blender.
