[Bf-python] Which Python to install?

Hi all,

I've decided to upgrade to Blender 2.37. The installation of the static
binary bounced out an error, saying it uses Python 2.3 whereas I have
Python 2.4 installed on my comp.

I got a reply from the forum that there are issues with Python 2.4 for
Blender 2.37. Is this the truth?

During weekend I plan to install a brand new Gentoo system. Should I
rather chose Python 2.3 or is it safe to install Python 2.4 before
installing Blender 2.37a?
