as far as i know, this is impossible due to the internal architecture of
Blender (that's what Ton said when i was enthusiastically asking about
that when starting to learn about this), don't know if anyone has done
anything about it yet recently.

this might be related to the wider question about making Blender more 
modular as a whole, as was proposed by Michel in
http://www.blender.org/pipermail/bf-committers/2003-September/004070.html
and commented a little by others .. i've been unable to find more recent 
information about that yet, pointers would be welcome.

but perhaps something simpler could be done first to allow for that need 
.. also the new option to start python scripts from the commandline (still 
running them using bpython) might help you with this in some cases.
