Hi Greg! This sounds like a great marketing opportunity. I am not the person to write about the new Blender architecture, but am forwarding it to the Blender Foundation for them to route. Perhaps Ton, Campbell, Martin or other person can do this. Good luck with your book!

Subject: contributing to O'Reilly book on software architecture

Hi Roger,

I hope you don't mind mail out of the blue, but I'm organizing a sequel to O'Reilly's "Beautiful Code", and I was hoping I could talk you into contributing. The idea is to have people write a chapter each to describe the architecture of some moderately complex piece of software. We think the material will be interesting in its own right, but will also teach people by example how to think about the "big picture" of software architecture (something my students and colleagues ask for repeatedly).

If you're willing to do a chapter for us on Blender, we would need 15-20 pages (including diagrams and what-not) by Thanksgiving 2010, with an eye to having the book on the shelves in 2011. As with "Beautiful Code", royalties would go to charity (most likely Amnesty International). If you're interested, please give me a shout --- it would be great to have you on board. And if you can't help us out, I'd be grateful for a pointer to someone else from the team who might be interested.

Thanks in advance,
Greg Wilson
