Exactly my point. Since AV-Sync and Frame-Dropping both drop frames, the
title "Frame-Dropping" is meaningless.

Another reason no mode should be called "Frame-Dropping" because it
communicates nothing. If the goal of the mode was just to drop frames, it
could execute it perfectly by dropping all frames and displaying nothing.

The "Frame-Dropping" mode should either be renamed to explain how it's
syncing priority is different from "AV-Sync", or it should be removed
leaving just "no-sync" and "av-sync".

Here are some possible sync modes i can imagine..

1) no sync, show video as fast as possible (warping audio)
2) hard sync video to real time (and audio) by dropping video frames
2) soft sync video to real time, but show all video frames, stretching audio
