[Bf-funboard] Shape Workflow Improvement Suggestion

Yup, it's really kind of unfortunate Paul, to tell you the truth. On the
other hand, we are all aware that these guys are busting their balls to
churn out a splendid piece of software, they're pretty busy... But on the
other hand, there are users like myself, who've been in the industry for
20+ years and know the value of non-destructive workflow in tight deadline
projects, which is what I'm concerned with mainly. It's a little annoying
to be diverted to this mailing list for divulging our input, but finding
out at the end that it is mainly ignored (or not, I don't really know)
There are many users of Blender around the world, many of them hobbyist to
be frank, but there are those like myself who have seriously switched to it
for their professional work, and there, when you're racing against precious
minutes, you need all available flexibility you can get from the
application. I'll give you an example; when I get revisions from my
clients, which are usually quite a few, I tend to stack each revision on
the model as shapeKeys, but when it comes to the moment when the client is
ready to commit, I found that "baking" those revision shapeKeys onto the
'Basis' shapeKey requires adding those revision shapeKeys to each and every
other keys present on the model, and there, the "propagate the changes onto
every shape key' thingy just doesn't work, cuz it's absolute, not additive
:( I know that if I can remedy these problems by writing a script (which
isn't that easy I should add with all the drivers that are potentially
present, the copying and pasting of which are not yet fully implemented
into the API), integrating these should be a no brainer for many of the
Blender devs around the world, if only these requests could get a solid
footing from them... Dunno, feeling a little dismayed about this... :(

Cheers;

AJ
