I am not sure what you are talking about.

Alt-b is view clipping border. At the end of this page.

My best trick. In edit mode say on a sphere with nothing selected,
pick a line (in line mode of course). Now ctrl select another one a
long way off. It selects everything in between! Talk about useful. How
many videos have you see with people clicking every line segment in a
row using 30 seconds per time? THis is not the same as shift alt
select because it has end points!
