What: Alt+mousewheel scrolling to quickly change an item in a scrollable list

examples
in 3D view on edit modes, snap modes, pivot modes, selection modes
In node editor on nodes with blending modes (multiply,add,subtract..)
in UV editor /render settings for the render slots or image modes.
...

where would it be nice to have this as well:

on buttons with image choices (uv editor, background images etc...)
On buttons with material choices
Action editor choices (maybe less important, but it is a similar button..)

Pretty much everywhere where you have this kind of "scrollbutton"

it would make it quicker to select different images or materials or whatever to quickly compare different items. right now you need to click select every time. That is not THAT bad,but I think you can agree that alt+scroll would make sense in these cases as well., since blender does it so well in all other cases.

Right now it's hit and miss on what does use this shortcut.

in render settings (properties editor) i just quickly checked and it doesn't work on the dimensions presets, or framerate, but does work on the anti aliasing and shading scrollbuttons.

Quite inconsistent.
