Do you know if there is a 3DMF import script for blender? I've googled
about it but didn't find any script for that...
I am an Architecture student and sometimes need to work with the 3d
models from www.greatbuildings.com, where all the models are in 3dmf
format. I am able to edit them on Blender, but I need to:

1 - Open the 3DMF file with Design
Workshop(http://www.artifice.com/dw.html, it's poor, ugly and only
exports as 3dmf!) and save as ASCII 3DMF format (there are 2 types of
3dmf: binary and ASCII, default of the site files is binary)
2 - convert ASCII 3DMF to VRML 97 with 3dmf2wrl
(http://www.crispen.org/src/3dmf2wrl.zip), (c source code is avalable
for download on the site)
3 - import it with 3dsmax (I think there's a problem with Blender's
VRML97 importing 'cos it's not able to read my wrl files)
4 - Export as DXF
5 - Import DXF with Blender (Blender DXF importing looks great!)
6 - Edit it with Blender, my favorite 3d software!

It worked for me, but It would be much better if there was a direct
way to do that. I've found many other users on forums interested on
editing greatbuildings-dot-com's 3dmf files. If Blender could import
this files, it would certainly bring many architecture students to the
OpenSource world :D. I've already tested importing VRML97 with Blender
2.37 but it didn't work... Dunno the rank of such a feature on
project's priorities, btw, maybe on a 2.38, 2.39 ...

Thank you for your great work, and God bless the OpenSource!
Pedro Sacramento
