[Bf-funboard] Why can't you rotate MetaElems?

I've noticed that in Metaball edit mode, you cannot rotate a metaball, 
yet it you go out of editmode you can, and the metaobject will still 
interact correctly with surrounding metaball objects.  These seems 
really wierd to me.
