[Bf-funboard] Export to FBX?

Is there any development going on now to export model
and animation data to the .fbx format?  I've been
reading a little about it, and it seems most of the
big 3d packages have plugin support for import/export
of .fbx.  If Blender could read/write FBX it could be
a way of having Blender more seamlessly integrate into
a Maya, LightWave or 3dsMax work environment.  Or
maybe somebody's already done this and I just don't
know about it.
