You could just make the last transform the copy's beginning location with a 
sticky factor (ie; mouse must move x pixels before object responds to input) 
then they can just hit Shift-D, Enter repeatedly.  No extra pop-ups, modes, 
or un-freezing...

There are questions on how to handle translation + rotation, though.  If you 
rotate, and then do a translation mouse move greater than x, do you 
un-rotate?
