the browser module checks about a $BROWSER variable, and if it cannot
find one, it goes through a great big list of possible hard-coded browsers
and trys to run one. It opened galeon for me here, which I have not used
in months, and don't have as default anywhere. I guess it works, but I
cannot see a huge advantage in using it.
